SQL query per widget, every time
THE ARCHITECTURE
Built with a design goal most dashboards ignore: nothing fetched in the background.
Every screen in Formboard is a normal WordPress page load. Adding a widget submits a form and reloads the page — the server computes the data at that moment and writes it straight into the HTML.

One SQL query, always
Sums, group-bys, and pivots run directly against Gravity Forms’ own entry tables. Raw entries are never loaded into PHP, so it stays fast no matter how many submissions a form has.

Nothing to intercept
No fetch() calls means there’s no request for a misconfigured cache, security plugin, or service worker to silently swallow. What renders is what happened.

Same app, wp-admin or front end
[formboard_dashboard] runs the exact same PHP rendering and POST handler as wp-admin — full editing, drag-to-resize, and the widget builder, on any page you choose.
WHAT YOU GET
A proper BI layer, without leaving Gravity Forms.
Relationships — BI-style joins between forms
Link a second Gravity Forms form to any widget and match a field on each — an Orders form’s “Email” to a Customers form’s “Email.” Every field picker in that widget then offers the linked form’s fields too, prefixed with its name. Treated as a lookup, not a many-to-many join, so a cross-form measure never inflates a sum the way a naive join could.
Charts, every shape
Bar, column, line, area, pie, doughnut, radar, combo (mixed bar+line with a secondary axis), and stacked bar/area — with Top N and sort built into the same single query.
Pivot tables
Rows, columns, and value fields with subtotals that stay visible on collapse and an always-visible grand total — a real spreadsheet-outline pivot, computed server-side.
KPI comparison cards
A PowerBI/Looker-style stat tile: the number, a colored delta chip against a previous period or fixed target, and a 12-point trend sparkline — with configurable “which direction is good.”
Live filter bars
Up to 5 rules per widget, and every filter also shows as a viewer-adjustable bar directly on the widget — not buried in an edit drawer.
Tables, Datatables-style
A searchable, sortable, paginated grid of raw entries, with an opt-in heatmap or up to 5 conditional-formatting rules per column.
Share & export
A per-report link with one-click copy, “Export PDF” via the browser’s own print dialog, and “Export Excel” as a CSV of everything currently on the report.
Dark mode
A viewer-side toggle in the app header. Remembered in that browser only — never written to the server, never changes what anyone else sees.
Calculated measures
Simple two-field arithmetic or an advanced formula like ROUND(({5}-{6})/{6}*100,1) — compiled through a whitelist-only parser, no eval(), computed in the same SQL query.

Build a widget without leaving the page
Every section — Basics, Fields & measure, Relationships, Filters, Table design — is its own fly-out panel in the same slide-over builder. Saving is a normal form POST that reloads the page; nothing is fetched in the background, even here.
